City Sip LA

city sip

I’ve been patronizing City Sip for about as long as it’s been open, and I’ve never been disappointed. The atmosphere is inviting and intimate, the staff are all friendly and helpful, and the wine and food are all well-priced and delicious.

First things first. The “Figgin Good” bruscetta is really, really friggin good. I can’t believe I’d never tried it before my most recent visit. Now that I have, this beautiful concoction of black mission figs with creamy blue cheese atop a thin slice of toasted bread will be on my score card every visit to City Sip. SO good!

Their cheese plates are awesome. $4 for each 1 oz. portion of cheese, which is accompanied by artisan bread, honey, quince, and almonds, make for the perfect light to gluttonous bite to enjoy with your wine, depending on how much cheese you feel compelled to consume.

As for the wines, Nicole tends to select wines that don’t appear on every other wine list in town, and they typically change over the course of the months. At $15, there are many great wine flights to choose from, or you can ask for a customized flight as I like to do. The glasses range from $7 to $14, and you can get a bottle starting from around $20 on up.

If you’re not in the mood for wine, they’ve also got a great selection of craft beers and sake.

City Sip also offer classes and great events, so keep them on your radar if you know what’s best for you, which is obviously good wine, good beer, and good times!

There’s really not a reason to leave Echo Park with City Sip in town…for real…I went there on a Friday night with my girlfriend, and even though the space is small and narrow, the service and wine selection makes up for it. It’s very “cheers” like where everyone is very social and you lose track of time…and how many sips, glasses or in our case, bottles we had. We had a great time and would reccomend it to anyone on the eastside or not….just takea taxi or have a designated driver!
