55 Degree Wine

Whenever anyone asks me where I want to go for a fine night of wine, my first thought is always 55 Degree. The wine has never failed me, which can be equallyattributed to both a phenomenal selection and a phenomenal staff who really do know a lot about wine.
The star of 55 Degree is the cellar. I dream of having a cellar like the one I’ve come to know and love here. Honestly, this is the perfect place to spend an evening sipping wine with friends, a date, or just on your own. It’s perfectly intimate and cozy, dim lighting with candles burning at each of the tables. I’ve had many parties in their private area behind the glass. For a small group of 8 to a large group of 30, this is such a good place to chill and get your vino on. I just love it!
As for the shop upstairs, the prices are very reasonable. It’s primarily stocked with Italian wines, but there’s also a great selection of Spanish, Portuguese, Argentinian and even some California wine is starting to sneak it’s way in. There is a massive selection of Prosecco, too, which I have determined will be this summer’s mission: to try each and every one! Care to join me?
Every time I go in there I am amazed at the growing collection of beers, too. We’re talking the good stuff…American craft beers (now including my favorite, Allagash!), Irish, Belgian, German, you name it, 55 probably has it!
Andy, the owner of 55, and his amazing crew have always bent over backwards to make sure that all of their customers are having an enjoyable experience. I feel like I’m walking into an good friend’s home instead of a business.
I just love this little oasis plunked down in the middle of a strip mall in Atwater Village.

We went here based on the HUGE reviews on YELP. The place was a lot of fun and the people were genuinely nice. We went on a Sunday night to celebrate Daylight Savings! I tried 2 flights/my boyfriend had a flight and a glass-and we got the cheese platter.
At first we were the only people in there since its was about 450pm when we arrived, however in the next hour more people started showing up. On sunday’s they do a beer tasting…looked like fun.
If I lived closer I would probably go here more, and I would like to check out the vibe on a weekend night. I would for sure consider doing a party or an event in that back room…
If you are looking for some fun, wine, and cool ambiance-this is a great spot.
my first date with 55 degree wine, sensational…
attentive, bright, enlightening, really quite delicious.
too bad it involved my second date with a total bore
55 Degree Wine is amazing – the staff, the wine flights, the cellar — all very satisfying. I have been to 55 Degree for both a beer & bratwurst tasting and for wine tasting. Rick knows his beers, for sure. Andy is fantastic and always willing to explain varietals – his passion and knowledge are wonderful. Oh, and the cheese plate is yummy!!!!
I highly recommend 55 Degree Wine!
Love this place! Great wine, great service, great grub. Just a really great vibe all around. Love the fact that they have a real, live, no foolin’ wine cellar. Just as good as gets.
